White sage, which is botanically known as salvia apiana, is an evergreen perennial shrub that is native to the southwestern United States and Mexico. It is also known as sacred sace: its leaves are rich in oils and resin which produce a strong aroma when they are burnt or rubbed. It has antibacterial properties and can be used to purify environments.
Instructions for use:
It is burned as if it was incense: light the smudge and let it burn for a few seconds, then extinguish the flame and let the embers emit smoke.
